ATAÇELİK is an integrated construction company manufacturing steel construction of industrial plants, warehouses, shopping centers, schools, hotels, business centers, and other large structures.
Thanks to its experienced staff, ATAÇELİK is able to perform all steps of the “Design-Production-Erection” chain in Turkey and in other countries the “Production” system required to execute steel projects. Regrouping these processes in the same facility enhances the speed and quality of the construction work. It also simplifies the work performed by users.
The fact that a significant part of construction projects are produced in a controlled environment in its Adapazari factory helped ATAÇELİK to become one of the leading companies.
Having an integrated point of view ATAÇELİK produces Zee-Cee profiles and Composite Flooring panels required for steel constructions under ATAPROFİL and ATAPANEL brands. The understanding of a combined Design-Production-Erection chain is the most important advantage of the operation system of ATAÇELİK as any structural problem encountered during the process of production is detected and solved at the phase of designing.
ATAÇELİK design group cooperates with static design and architectural groups of the companies to realize all detailing works focused on required principles. This method avoids any problem in organizing the production and installation of detail agreements required by different units.
Domestic and foreign prestigious companies such as Ford, Hyundai, Procter & Gamble, Yapı Merkezi İnşaat, Renaissance İnşaat, Gedik Holding, Four Seasons Hotels, Koray İnşaat, System İnşaat, Kuehne Nagel, LCW, İstikbal Mobilya, ASAŞ Alüminyum are in the customer portfolio of ATAÇELİK. Some of currently ongoing construction projects are Gedik Holding Casting Factory, international airport in Labraq, Tobruq, Martuba, the Libyan cities of Ghat and Kufrah, Libya Silon Sirte VIP Lounge, İstanbul 212 AVM, İstanbul, Pendik and İzmit Metro Gross Market.
QPR selected due to efficiency and accuracy
With its center in Istanbul, its production facilities in Sakarya, and construction sites all around the world, the need for software allowing following documentation of an integrated company was clear. In this regard, ATAÇELİK met various consulting companies to find the most appropriate solution for itself and finally the QPR ProcessGuide was selected for its effectiveness and accuracy.
Mr. Fethullah Sayar, Quality Control Manager and Management Representative, explains ATAÇELİK’s journey with QPR:
“We determined all our processes by working with Kalite Sistem Consulting and by using QPR ProcessGuide process management software in 2009. While determining processes, we performed necessary workshops with the process owners and made sure the processes would be adequate. As a result of the workshops, we created six main processes and seventy-one sub-processes.”
“We have reduced the use of paper, one of the biggest problems in many companies, and also made sure that employees can access the documentation easily in a software environment. By transferring our documentation from the physical environment to the software environment, the quality management system became more functional and the employees adapted to the system without resistance”, he continues.
Accessing the documents via QPR ProcessGuide is easy, especially in construction sites, whereas communicating hard copies of documents is often very obstructive. Before QPR, whenever changes were made to documents, it was very difficult to publish those changes. Within the QPR-based solution, employees reach now all the updated documents instantly.
“In this way, we keep the system up-to-date. In addition, we can also keep our other manufacturing quality systems and their documentation up to date with QPR software. The platform provided great benefit to ATAÇELİK to achieve the DIN 18800 and EN ISO 3834 manufacturing competence certification in 2010”, Mr. Sayar explains.
Another benefit of QPR ProcessGuide is presenting processes more easily and understandably with figures and interactive displays that are also accessible by all employees online instead of with impractical paper documents.
Future Activities
“While establishing the process management system, we defined goals for the top management and all other departments. We are aiming to measure all these goals, then to determine and to realize the required improvements of the processes annually”, Fethullah Sayar says.
According to plans, the necessary measurements will be done before the management review meetings and the results will be evaluated at the meetings.
ATAÇELİK wants to bring in OHSAS Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certificate to the Company in 2010 by completing activities that integrate with the management System model in QPR.
“More than ever, we are very confident that the new systems we have established will greatly improve our working environment. Thanks to our employees, Kalite and QPR for their great collaboration”, he concludes.
